Cooking in the home

Well I love to cook, usually. Like nearly all women today I am quite active. Yet I do love to get into the galley and turn out tasty feast for my family and friends. I take great enjoy being the talk of the town “If you get invited to Alice’s Place for dinner, don’t say no, she is an amazing cook”. That is among the many opinions that have been passed about my cooking prowess. It makes me very proud. I have some most-liked cook books and I enjoy to mess with the recipes . I often return to the book I obtained a recipe from years later and realize that what I’m making is fairly diverse than the original recipe. I believe it is the mark of a great cook when you can change a recipe to make it work better or make something up on the fly.

The thing is we are all very busy and at times we must have something quick and easy to cook. Well there is no way I’d get away with baked beans on toast for dinner in this house, butI actually do have a few tricks up my sleeve for when I’m just to tired do not have time or couldn’t be bothered.

Calling to get a Pizza is out of the question, unless it is a code red disaster (which happens from time to time). So I am left with, what will i do that is really quick? These days we have been spoilt for choice with some of the packet mixes and jars that are around, and thus some of them are really good (some aren’t). I have to say that a lately discovered favourite of mine is the Continental apricot chicken curry. Now usually I would need to add some of my own , personal twist to a packet mix, but that one delivers purely following the guidelines. A very long time favourite is the quick cook meatballs from Woolworths using a jar of my very favourite Paul Newman’s own pasta sauce along with a can of diced tomatoes. If I want a curry in a rush I really do have to make a bit of a sacrifice on taste but Passage of India Curry Sauces are worth trying. Now actually, none of this is just like cooking yourself, nonetheless it works when you are pressed for time and means that you may get something way better than a frozen TV dinner on the table.
